“Remembering” is a Jewish spiritual practice that connects us to our ancestors and to generations who have come before us. We grow in depth and character when we pause the “fast forward” of our lives, to honor those who have instilled within us abiding values.
Temple gives us distinct times and ways to “remember.” We invite you to observe the yahrzeit, the anniversary of a loved one’s death, by saying Kaddish. We gladly send reminder cards in advance of your loved one’s yahrzeit, so you will be able to be present on the Shabbat when their name will be read aloud. We invite all those saying kaddish or observing a yahrzeit to stand, so they may be recognized within community. We offer yahrzeit candles for sale at our Judaica Shop, so that you might extend this remembrance to your home.
It is customary to schedule an unveiling in the first year after a death. It may be held as early as one month after the death; it is more common for it to be scheduled within the 11-12 month period. An unveiling is not a formal service; it does not require a rabbi. Our clergy are happy to officiate, or to provide resources and guidance if you are planning a family unveiling.

An English Translation
Glorified and sanctified be God’s great name throughout the world which He has
created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during
your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, Amen.
May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.
Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be
the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises
and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen.
May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us
and for all Israel; and say, Amen.
He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all
Israel; and say, Amen.
