Choosing Judaism

Menu

Choosing to become part of the Jewish people is a personal path for many people. We are honored and glad to support those who wish to explore Judaism. The first step: come and experience Shabbat services. The second step: speak with Rabbi Lisa. Jews-by-choice embark on a period of learning and study, active participation in Shabbat worship and study, and meetings with a sponsoring rabbi. Conversion candidates are encouraged to spend the year experiencing the annual holiday and festival cycle. The formal act of conversion includes meeting with a bet din (rabbinic court), immersion in a mikveh (ritual bath), hatafat dam brit for circumcised men (drawing a drop of blood from the site of circumcision), and an affirmation of faith.
